Turf Helps with Allergy Season

Allergies No More

Around 50 million Americans have some sort of grass allergy, making it difficult to even enjoy their own yard. The cause comes mostly from pollen as trees and a variety of grass types release it into the air as the wind spreads it around to different yards. This is where synthetic turf comes in and solves for the problem. During allergy season, mostly spring and summer, grass harbors pollen which in turn triggers allergies. Synthetic turf is made from manmade products and does not hold as much pollen as regular grass would. Even if some pollen were to get caught up in the turf blades, routine rinsing of the turf will wash away any allergy-causing debris.

A yard with grass requires excessive manual labor on a routine basis. There really is no way around the grass allergies even if the lawn were maintained regularly. Excess grass growth traps dust, pollen and allergy-causing debris, which in turn causes itchy eyes, runny nose, congestion and so on. If you were to mow, pollen would still be stirred up in the air from the process. With turf, all you need is a hose and water. It even has a built in draining system that doesn’t allow for any buildup or bacterial growth.

Pets Are Affected too

Did you know dogs even suffer from allergies? Many may not know that turf is safer for pets as well. Dogs are constantly rolling around in grass, running around kicking up dirt, and having a good ‘ole time. But these rough plays are kicking up pollen as well which affects the dogs and their owners. With synthetic turf, this pollen issue will be no more. Additionally, the turf is actually pet friendly in more ways than one. Click here to find out why.

Invest in Turf for Your Health

Synthetic turf reduces the need for pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. Cutting back on these harmful products helps with allergies as well, because they won’t be breathed in ever again. Reducing pollen from your yard will make an incredible difference you’ll be sure to notice. Don’t keep fighting those gruesome allergies year after year. Invest in turf to make your life that much easier and healthier.

What Turf Maintenance Really Means

No Mowing. No Watering. No Fertilizing.

Yard work is a tiresome chore, because a lot of upkeep is required to keep the lawn well manicured. The idea behind turf is maintenance shouldn’t be a worry anymore. Synthetic grass is built with an internal draining system, so liquids are able to filter through the surface without any kind of buildup. However, there are still a few steps you should take and be aware of – don’t worry it doesn’t require anywhere near the exertion from maintaining a regular yard.

1. Wash away debris

Solid objects such as leaves and debris can get stuck in the blades – sorry to say the absorption isn’t that powerful. It’s so easy to clean though, because all you need is a water hose. And if you’re one of those lucky guys that receives a bountiful of rainfall annually, that becomes turf’s (and your) best friend. If not, just hose down or use a leaf blower to rid of the solid objects.

Additionally, if you have pets, you want to pick up the solid waste and rinse the blades with water afterwards. Some people even resort to using a mild household detergent mixed with warm water to do the trick as well.

2. Brush it off

It’s also recommended to use a hard bristled brush to keep the turf blades in an upright position. Brushing turf helps keep any matting away and obtains the natural turf look and feel. Brushing is usually related to the amount of foot traffic the area receives – so more foot traffic means more brushing.  If you need to brush, make sure to use one with synthetic bristles – never use one with metal or wire.

3. Keep damaging liquids away

Liquids such as oil, grease and acidic solutions are damaging to synthetic turf. Turf can become discolored if the chemicals are exposed to it. However, synthetic grass contains a stain resistant surface, which nothing a little water and soap can’t fix.

4. No vehicles allowed

Try and refrain from parking your vehicles on the turf. Hot exhaust or anything that gives off a lot of heat should be kept away from the synthetic turf so it can maintain it’s look and feel.

Why Is Artificial Turf a Good Investment?

How So?

It’s true, we’re not going to dance around the cost of turf. It is a pricey number, but you shouldn’t let that scare you off. An investment is an investment for a reason, it should always pay off in the end. Did you know a single household’s lawn maintenance for a year costs anywhere between $2000-$3000? Just think about the costs towards fertilization, irrigation systems, and from mowing to watering costs. And do you pay someone else to do these tedious tasks for you? All of it adds up.

Our turf uses the latest technology on the market. What does that mean? Our turf contains a yarn composition that is able to withstand more ‘“wear and tear.” These turf installments have the capability to last for several years. It is estimated that new synthetic grass installments are expected to pay for itself in about 3 to 3 ½ years. Conveniently, there are several products on the market able to fit within your budget.

What Else?

It’s also important to factor in time. Time you’ll gain from installing this synthetic turf. Usually an entire day is set aside to do yard work. With synthetic turf, this will not be a problem anymore. And what about those winter months? You’ll have a beautiful yard all year round. Additionally, in allergy season, synthetic turf will not contribute to the problem like real grass does. Even pets won’t become a problem in maintaining a well manicured lawn. Fun Fact

If that didn’t win you over, according to Bob Vila, home improvement TV show host, “a professionally landscaped property is a sure ticket to quick resale. It gives a home curb appeal, a sense of place and value.” It’s a first impression that can “add 20 percent to your home’s value, a figure that rivals the return on a new kitchen or bath.”
